Marriage Goals: Emulating Christs Love for His Church

Mar 29, 2017 | Posted by in Lifestyle, Married Life, Uncategorized | 0

I have always found that when I put something in writing I hold myself more accountable to achieving it. AND I remember it better too! Plus, it helps me prioritize the things that matter to me in each stage of life. And when I prioritize things, I use my time more intentionally. So when this time of year comes my husband and I make a list of goals we’d like to work towards and achieve during the year. Until this year, most of our goals have been focused on our own physical health, spiritual growth, giving of our time and money, and of course paying off debt. But this year we decided to do something a little different in addition to those things – weRead more …

Iris’ Black Bean Brownies

My grandmother, Iris, was known for a lot of things. Line dancing probably the most though. Once she started dancing she couldn’t stop. Literally up until a month before her death at 91 years old, that lady was dancing. She taught classes in both Delaware and Florida and competed in competitions and pageants. She was an amazing lady to say the least. Because she was so physically active she took eating healthy pretty seriously. Besides the occasional ice cream sundae, she was always researching new super foods to try and different replacements for sugar. And everything she cooked was delicious too, even if that new ingredient she was trying didn’t sound so good on paper. And once she tried something, if she loved it enough,Read more …

Why I started Journaling and How You Can Too

Mar 10, 2017 | Posted by in Faith, Lifestyle, Uncategorized | 0

I get asked by a lot of different people how I journal. And usually they are asking that question in one of two ways: 1) what do I write about and how do I come up with my content? Or 2) literally HOW do I have time for it with a young child? Getting started… I started journaling a few years ago after I took a class at our previous church on Lectio Devina style bible study. If you aren’t familiar with this style, it’s a mix of scriptural study, meditation, and prayer. Basically, I take an area of scripture of my choice or per my devotional and read it a few times while underlining the areas that stand out to me. Then, I meditate on it andRead more …

11 Ways Meal Planning Changed My Week

Sep 17, 2016 | Posted by in Lifestyle, Uncategorized | 0

My husband and I have been using Dave Ramsey’s Envelope System with our budget for about a month now. If you don’t know what that is, then I’d say it’s definitely worth a look. We are almost a year into our 3 year deadline to kill the rest of our debt. We’ve been chipping away at it little by little over the past few years and we finally just said enough is enough…we have dreams and we need that extra money to accomplish them. So we’ve gotten pretty serious about our money. Because of the envelope system we started meal planning to avoid the risk of overspending in our grocery budget every week. And although we started doing it for the budget, meal planning has helpedRead more …

5 Items to Make any Mom’s Day Easier

Aug 23, 2016 | Posted by in Lifestyle, Motherhood, Uncategorized | 0

So this post has been on my mind for a while but I wanted to make sure I had it narrowed down just right before I shared it. Call me silly or simple but these 5 items genuinely make daily life for this Momma a little easier. One of the main reasons I read blogs is to learn from people. Sometimes what works for them may work for me too, or maybe it doesn’t and that’s ok. Either way I thought I’d share a few of my own favorite things in hopes that maybe they will help you! First and foremost, you can’t underestimate the power of prayer. Starting the day off with prayer, going to God hourly, and looking for evidence of Him inRead more …

Joy and Happiness: The Story Behind the Name

May 4, 2016 | Posted by in Lifestyle, Uncategorized | 0

A few weeks ago I was sitting in our kitchen across from my daughter in her highchair. I hadn’t had my coffee yet and for some reason I had so much on my mind that morning that I began staring off into space. But then I heard this little giggle. I snapped out of it to look at my daughter who was staring at me with this huge smile on her face. She couldn’t contain whatever feeling was inside of her anymore so she just started giggling. Then I started giggling. I didn’t really know what we were giggling at, but it was funny! If you know my daughter, then you know this is fairly normal. She is always smiling. It doesn’t matter if youRead more …
