In March of this year we took our first family vacation (all 3 of us) to Naples, Florida. Since we have been married, Naples has become our favorite place to vacation. It’s also the most budget friendly due to the fact that we have a family member in the area to stay with. However, vacationing pre-baby is SOOO different than vacationing post-baby, as I am sure so many Moms and Dads can attest to. One of the things I admire about my Dad is all the hobbies he has and has shared with his kids. He loves watching sci-fi movies, reading books, painting spaceship models, constructing corn hole boards, and my favorite, collecting Star Trek memorabilia. Oh yes, he is a “Trekkie” through and through. And I can’t say that I wasn’t influenced by that. I saw all the movies with him, kept up with the evolving TV shows, and bought Hallmark Star Trek ornaments every Christmas. I even dressed up as my favorite character for Halloween one year. I loved it because he loved it. Last week was rough. Being a Mom is definitely hard at times but being the Mom of a teething child is even harder. You want to help them but there is only so much you can do. They lose sleep, you lose sleep, AND when they are awake they are miserable. Runny nose, a fever, pain in their jaw and ears…ugh…the list goes on. What I wanted to tell myself this week was… “It’s all going to be okay. This is normal. All you can do is give them the extra love and attention they need…plus a little ibuprofen on the side.
