Inconvenient Growth

Feb 18, 2017 | Posted by in Encouragement, Faith, Uncategorized | 4

I recently spent 3 weeks of my January in Florida. I know what you are thinking, “wow, that sounds pretty awesome in mid-winter!”. Well…any other time I would agree with you, but it wasn’t awesome, in fact it was a complete interruption in my life. And did I mention I left the husband at home but took my 18 month old with me?! Yeah… In all seriousness I went to Florida to help my mom care for my grandmother. At the time of my departure I had round trip airfare booked. Eden and I would go to visit my grandmother who’d been in the hospital for a month, give my mom a little break from being at her bedside, then return to Maryland in aRead more …

It’s OK to be “That Mom”

My daughter, Eden, is 13 months old and a few weeks ago she got sick for the very first time. She had a fever for 3 days, a runny nose, and a really congested cough, which is still hanging on as long as it can. At first I thought it was one of her molars, which happened to be pushing through at the same time (of course!). But once I heard her cough I knew it was something else. So, what’s your first thought when your kid is sick? “I should take them to the doctor”…right? At least in most cases that would be one of the first thoughts to come to mind. And that it did; however, it was accompanied by the thought ofRead more …

5 Items to Make any Mom’s Day Easier

Aug 23, 2016 | Posted by in Lifestyle, Motherhood, Uncategorized | 0

So this post has been on my mind for a while but I wanted to make sure I had it narrowed down just right before I shared it. Call me silly or simple but these 5 items genuinely make daily life for this Momma a little easier. One of the main reasons I read blogs is to learn from people. Sometimes what works for them may work for me too, or maybe it doesn’t and that’s ok. Either way I thought I’d share a few of my own favorite things in hopes that maybe they will help you! First and foremost, you can’t underestimate the power of prayer. Starting the day off with prayer, going to God hourly, and looking for evidence of Him inRead more …

Teething is bad, but God is BIGGER

Last week was rough. Being a Mom is definitely hard at times but being the Mom of a teething child is even harder. You want to help them but there is only so much you can do. They lose sleep, you lose sleep, AND when they are awake they are miserable. Runny nose, a fever, pain in their jaw and ears…ugh…the list goes on. What I wanted to tell myself this week was… “It’s all going to be okay. This is normal. All you can do is give them the extra love and attention they need…plus a little ibuprofen on the side. And all that extra snuggling…well, she will only be this little for so long”. But what was actually going through my mind was… “What ifRead more …

Joy and Happiness: The Story Behind the Name

A few weeks ago I was sitting in our kitchen across from my daughter in her highchair. I hadn’t had my coffee yet and for some reason I had so much on my mind that morning that I began staring off into space. But then I heard this little giggle. I snapped out of it to look at my daughter who was staring at me with this huge smile on her face. She couldn’t contain whatever feeling was inside of her anymore so she just started giggling. Then I started giggling. I didn’t really know what we were giggling at, but it was funny! If you know my daughter, then you know this is fairly normal. She is always smiling. It doesn’t matter if youRead more …

Whether you are a stay at home Mom or Dad, I am sure you have put some thought into the questions, “How am I being fulfilled here?” or “How am I meeting my purpose?” And maybe some of you have some great answers to those questions, or maybe you have always desired to be a stay at home parent and are naturally fulfilled through that. Or maybe you are more like me, and you’ve struggled to answer these questions. I haven’t been a stay at home mom for very long and honestly, it wasn’t in my plans to become one full time. [For that story, click HERE] At the beginning of my journey, I kept praying for the Lord to give me a purpose, to giveRead more …
